Ashi Thai Registration Information

Please scroll all the way to the end. There is important information on all pages.

We like to keep our seminars casual and informal. My goal as your instructor is to provide a healthy, learning environment with the emphasis on safety while allowing you the opportunity to grasp the basics of Ashi Thai®. You may feel a bit overwhelmed with all the information you will receive in 2 days time, so bring your energy and enthusiasm with you to class. A healthy fitness level will help you enjoy the stretches from your working partner and we trust that you are coming to class with no injuries. You will need to sign, on the first day of class, ethics & liability agreements. Please contact me at fredettemassage@fuse.net with any questions about this prior to class. A 2 disc  Ashi-Thai educational DVD set is available for purchase for $100 during class time if you'd like.

*A special note: If you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or have had recent breast implants within the last 3 months, we regret that you cannot attend the seminar. The deep stretches and compression provided during this modality could be contraindicated for you. We welcome you after your baby is born, and/or sufficient scar tissue has formed around your implants.

If you have not had the pleasure of taking our Barefoot Basics course, you will need information about how to install the bars. Please plan to stay after class on the second day for about 1.5 hours for a bar construction session. You'll need to know:

ü  type of ceiling (drop commercial, residential, vaulted, etc)

ü  how high your massage table goes

ü  how low your massage table goes

Please bring this information with you to class.

Things to Bring

ü  Empty 3-ring binder ( recycled is fine) for your Ashi-Thai manual

ü  Pens or pencils, highlighter

ü  Easy slide on-slid-off thongs, sandals or slippers.

ü  Very lose and light weight long sleeve shirt and pants.

ü  Lunch, bottled water, quick, clean snacks like protein bars. You'll need them.

ü  Soft feet, fresh from a pedicure - this is mandatory!

ü  Extra check or cash to purchase things like AOBT logo shirts or leggings

ü  Cotton mittens that you can cut out fingers for those with tender hands.

Linen List: You will need per day -

ü  1 fitted massage table cover,

ü  1 face cradle cover,

ü   2 medium kitchen or hand towels,

ü  1 queen pillow w/cover

ü  3 king or queen pillow cases.

ü  Linen rental is available for $10 per day.

We recommend that you bring things to pamper yourself at the end of each day. It is very common to experience soreness from receiving & giving the Ashi-Thai work if you are not flexible or if you do not stretch on a regular basis. Bath salts and a warm bath or steam shower are highly recommended after class.

Clothes & Feet

Comfortable and loose clothing is a must! No need to wear jewelry to class. If you have long hair, please bring something to tie it up and keep it out of your face and off your neck. Ashi-Thai is not meant to be skin-to-skin contact.

To receive the work please wear loose fitting pants. Cotton boot leg pants, yoga pants or leggings with draw string waist that go all the way to the ankle are best to receive Ashi-Thai. Long sleeve t-shirts work the best for upper body. What does not work well are knee length Capri's or short yoga pants where calves are exposed, zippered cuffs or sweat pants with thick elastic bands. No snaps or zippers please.

To Give the Work please wear something that allows you to look down and see your ankles. You don't want to wear boot cut pants or bell bottom pants.  Sport tops and tank shirts are great since you will be working up a sweat when you first learn the Ashi-Thai stretches.

Now for the biggie - your feet! They are as important as your hands and they are your money makers. Your feet are a sign of your personal hygiene and profession. Nails should be VERY short and heels and balls of the feet soft and smooth!  Bring some cozy socks and/or slide-on slippers to wear in class. Start remembering to protect your feet now!

Please be ready physically to take this class

There are no height or weight requirements for taking Ashi-Thai as you are only using one foot at a time. We do ask that you are flexible enough to get up & down at both ends of your table quickly and easily from the floor. If you've recently had a baby or surgery, make sure you're back to normal. You should feel comfortable with your upper arm strength and flexibility.  Start conditioning  prior to your workshop to gain the maximum benefits delivering and receiving this modality.

The art of learning to any new form of massage during a live interactive workshop depends on a "team-operation" style workshop. If you have any problems with sight, hearing, recent injuries, learning disabilities, language barriers or any situation that may interfere with other therapists' learning process, please contact your instructor. We want to discuss your situation prior to signing up for the workshop so we can discuss modifications necessary to make the workshop accessible for you. Our main focus is on a quality workshop experience for all!

Reserve a spot, tuition and refund policy

To reserve a spot in our small (8) person workshops you need to send a deposit check for $200 or reserve your space with a credit card. Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy® was the first group ever to introduce certification training in barefoot massage with bars over head in the United States. The Ashi-Thai class is accredited for 16 NCBTMB CE hours. We pride ourselves in small intimate seminars. This gives eight lucky therapists the opportunity to experience the ultimate in learning.  If you would prefer a private tutorial, the tuition would not fall under the guidelines of the $399 tution and would increase by $100 per student. We reserve the right to cancel class 2 weeks prior to the event should there not be enough interest. At such time, students can choose if they would like a 100% refund, roll their deposit over to another scheduled class. You may also choose to pay the $100 additional for a private workshop.

Your $200 deposit is non refundable should you not show or cancel out of your selected workshop when scheduled workshop takes place (exceptions being dire circumstances). We will refund 100% of the deposit for any cancelled seminar that is due to our responsibility.

To register, simply fill out the information below with a $200 check or credit card deposit. This will hold your spot in class and help us tailor important aspects of the seminar to you!

Travel Considerations:

Make sure you have plenty of travel time both into and out of Cincinnati. Therapists who rush in the morning of the seminar and/or try to rush out directly after the seminar tend to feel drained and overwhelmed. Arrive the night prior to class and stay close to the seminar site for an easy commute. Please get a good night's rest before class starts each morning. Certain guidelines must be adhered to in accordance with the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, and with the State of Ohio. Punctuality is a must! You will only receive full credit hours on your transcript if you are on time each day. We will be working in teams each day, so if one person is late, it will affect the entire team. Make your travel and hotel plans with this in mind. If you wish, I can send you contact information of other out of town students should you wish to share accommodations at the host hotel near the training facility.
